Jury orders Trump to pay $83 million for defaming columnist E. Jean Carroll
A New York jury on Friday requested previous President Donald Trump to pay a sum of $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll for demolishing her validity as a guidance journalist when he called her a liar after she blamed him for rape. The jury granted Carroll $65 million in reformatory harms, $11 million for the harm to her standing and another $7.3 million. Trump is close to 100% to pursue the decision.
In spite of the size of the punishment, the decision was not startling. Judge Lewis Kaplan controlled even before the preliminary that Trump had as a matter of fact stigmatized Carroll. The jury just needed to conclude the amount Trump owed her — not assuming that he was at risk. This is the subsequent time Trump has been requested compensation Carroll; last year he was commanded by a jury to pay $5 million for a different case of maligning.
